The North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) will issue an insurance license to individuals who:
- Are at least eighteen (18) years old
- Have completed an approved prelicensing education course designated for the particular exam/license applied for
- Have passed the proper licensing examination
- Have completed a Fingerprint Background Check (after passing the exam and immediately/preferably one day before applying for the license)
- Have submitted a completed online application with $132 fee (subject to change) (exam certificate / exam admission ticket is valid for 90 days from date of passing the exam)
- Meets all other applicable license requirements
- Submits proof of citizenship
- Have not committed an act for which a license may be denied, see here
