What are the requirements for me to be eligible to obtain an insurance license in New York?

The New York Department of Financial Services will issue an insurance license to individuals who:

Are at least eighteen (18) years old
Have completed an approved prelicensing education course designated for the particular exam/license applied for
Have passed the proper licensing examination
Have completed a Fingerprint Background Check
Have submitted a completed online application with appropriate fee
Meets all other applicable license requirements
Submits proof of citizenship
Have not committed an act for which a license may be denied, see here
