You must apply for your license after you pass your exam. In Ohio, you must submit a completed application within 180 days of passing the exam. You apply online through an organization called National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) or Ohio Government Portal.

Consider working with your supervisor, contact the Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI), or email us or give us a call at 800-270-1385 and we can point you in the right direction. However, remember that the Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) is the official agency in Ohio that you should rely on for information regarding insurance licensing matters.
Make sure you obtain your fingerprinting through PSI or National Webcheck immediately before you apply for your license, as the ODI only has access to your fingerprint data for 30 days. If the fingerprinting data is stale, you will have to spend another fee and get your fingerprinting done again.
