You must apply for your license after you pass your exam. In New Jersey, you must submit a completed application within 12 months of passing the exam. You apply online through an organization called National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR).

However, remember that the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) is the official agency in New Jersey that you should rely on for information regarding insurance licensing matters.
Make sure you obtain your fingerprinting through IdentoGO immediately before you apply for your license, as the New Jersey DOBI only has access to your fingerprint data for 30 days. If the fingerprinting data is stale, you will have to spend another fee and get your fingerprinting done again.
