The Virginia Bureau of Insurance will issue an resident insurance producer’s (agent’s) license to individuals who:
- Are at least eighteen (18) years old
- Are a resident of, and actually residing in, the state of Virginia
- Have passed the proper licensing examination (exam results are valid for up to 183 Calendar days after passing the exam)
- Have completed a Fingerprint Background Check
- Have submitted a completed online application with appropriate fee
- Meets all other applicable license requirements
- Have not committed an act for which a license may be denied
