You must apply for your license after you pass your exam. In California, you must submit a completed application within 12 months of passing the exam. You apply online through an organization called SIRCON or apply through the California department of Insurance.

However, remember that the California Department of Insurance (CDI) is the official agency in California that you should rely on for information regarding insurance licensing matters. (Make sure you obtain your fingerprinting through Accurate Biometrics, Live Scan, or a PSI location.)
